Now let's talk about losing weight. Say you want to lose 20 pounds this year. That's amazing, and I have every faith that you can do it! But do you really think you can lose that 20 pounds in 30 days? Not in a healthy way. Set up small, achievable goals, like 2-3 pounds a month. Losing weight isn't easy, and it's a time consuming process. So why not enjoy it? If you're making this a part of your life, you should love every minute of it! Take it from someone who knows. If you hate what you're doing, you will never succeed. Love your body, love your life, and I promise everything will fall into place.
Just because it's no longer the first of January doesn't mean that it's too late to change! When I first started my fitness journey, It was the middle of October. Don't let things like "I'll wait for Monday" or "Maybe next month..." get in your way. You can do this! You can start NOW and succeed! Here are my tips for achieving your goals:
1) Write down what it is you want to achieve, sign it, and hang it wherever you are the most. For me, I would hang one in my room and in the bathroom on the mirror. Don't limit yourself! Write as many as you want. You can achieve if you believe. :)
2) Create smaller goals to reach the larger ones. Say your goal is to read more books. Plan to read one new book every month. Make it your priority to get that book finished before the end of the month. If you're like me and you need some sort of motivation to keep you going, make a treat list. This could be anything that you enjoy. At the end of the month, if you finished your book, go get a food you really enjoy but rarely have, or buy a new article of clothing, or get a new piercing. It's whatever you want!
3) Create an inspiration board. Or even just a poster. It can be as creative or as simple as you want. Use pictures that give you drive, things you love, quotes that pertain to what you want to achieve, anything! Put it up somewhere you will see it every day.
4) Stay organized. Now, you may be thinking "Rachel, my goal wasn't to be less cluttered this year, or organization has nothing to do with these goals," but I'm telling you, it makes a big difference! If everything in your outside life is organized and in order (ie. your room is cleaned up or your office or locker is in order and everything is where it should be), your inner life will feel much more peaceful. You'll feel less stress and more motivation! Believe me, when my room is a mess, I don't feel like getting on my yoga mat and sweating it out.
So these are my tips for a new year and a new you! I hope you enjoyed this post. Sorry it was so long for the first one. Happy new year and good luck!
